London in March?

Is anyone interested in getting together in London in March at some point to share someport? I'm only asking because it's been a while since the Deeper Underground offline and it looks like the next one being arranged may not be until the end of May.

I'll have to think about it for a while and get back to you.

OK, yes, I'm interested

The only day that I know I will be in London is Tuesday March 18th.

However, I can arrange to be in London on most other days if there is a day that suits people well.

I have no dates arranged at this point but will need to be in London at some point during the month.

Will check diary tomorrow.

I have a meeting in London on 18th May and have other things to do down there that can be arranged for the 19th.

We now have critical mass for an offline 88)

Anyone fancy joining us?

Now that we have a quorom organised, I'll drop some emails to non-forum folks who might like to attend and see if we can build up from here.

I suggest that we choose a theme of "Bring a bottle wrapped in Aluminium Foil"

I can confirm that the remainder of the Executive Committee of The Offline on 18th March (not May) in London is in full agreement with this proposal and the motion has now been carried.

I decided what to bring last night. I'm getting all excited. Two ports I can guarantee that you have never tried before and will love tasting!

Noval Nacional 1931 and Fonseca 1927? Splendid

I haven't picked mine yet. I think I need a good browse through my stock on Sunday.

Err. Not quite. Remember that the plan was one pre-Falklands conflict and one post? I'm afraid that you'll have to choose between the Nacional and the Fonseca - just let me know which one it will be and then when we do the blind tasting you can identify it immediately.

Sound OK?

You have obviously forgotten about the Falkland Island's Sheep Interference Conflict of 1929 - that is the one referred to in the rules, not the one from the early 1980's

Aha! Then I'll bring both with me and your challenge will be to tell me which is which. 88)

Good stuff - I'm sure they will both stand up well to my offerings of Taylor's Chip Dry and M&S Ponk

I decanted the younger of my two ports this evening at around 6pm (OK, 18:13 to be precise).

It smells yummy, looks yummy and, apparently, tastes yummy :?

The older bottle will travel to London intact to be decanted around lunchtime through my jdaw-travel-filter-kit.

Who? - AHB, Christopher and me

What? - It has to be port. It must be wrapped in foil. It should be post WW2. If bringing 2 halves instead of one whole then one should be post Falklands Conflict

Where? - do you really need to ask?

When? - tomorrow at 18:00

More are welcome.

Why not change it to 23:00 - AHB goes that way on the train so could point you in the right direction when he gets off at his stop. You would probably then wake up in Penzance at 04:00 but who gives a ****?

I have a prior engagement at Madison Square Garden at 6pm EST, so send my apologies. And I don’t have any foil.

Have a Good one. Say Hi to Christopher and see if he's still up for a late Summer Northern trip? I wont be offended if he gets 'Southern Jessie' disease.

No. My night off. I’m watching the Rangers-Penguins game.

Does this mean that Jdaw has returned to gainfull employment? Does this have any connection to today's monumental rumblings in the US banking world?

My night off from fighting Joe Frazier. That’s all.

My younger wine was decanted last night at 9pm and then poured carefully into a half bottle at 5am, which I make to be 8 hours proper decanting time.

Older wine is still in bottle and will be decanted at an appropriate time later today using JDAW travel decanting kit.

Did we say both wines had to be post WW2? I thought we said only 1 had to be post Falklands Island Sheep Conflict of 1929...

Reading Schmeading!

You know where you'd have most fun.

What time does your 6pm in Reading finish...? Leave Reading on the 7pm train and you'd still get 2 1/2 hours of fine port inside you.

I forgot to add that only the first two criteria were compulsory whilst the ther two were open to abuse and can be thought of simply as guidelines.

I am now at my hotel in London. Port D1, which was decanted last night, has now been poured into a large glass to allow it access to the air. My room is now filled with some rather delicious smells.

Port D2 will be decanted this afternoon using my Jdaw-travel-decanting-kit. The bottle from D1 will be used as the decanting vessel prior to both wines being returned to their original bottles which are, of course, wrappen in foil.

Allow me to be pleased that the jdaw-tdk is being used.

I used the JTDK in New Yoik when I met g-man with a fresh-off-the-shelf Graham 1994. I had to decant into a water glass but it worked beautifully.
