20% opacity, brown-amber, yellow rim. Amazing nose, oranges, slightly dried, menthol, caramels. Silky smooth entry, syrupy, great balance, rich mouthfeel. Massively long finish - lip-licking oranges.

Ex-cellars bottle from Quinta do Cachão, courtesy of Miguel Perreira at a tasting organised by Tony Carter of Vintage Wine & Port.

A little deeper in colour than the previous two vintages, 30% opaque. Caramel shows on the nose, with sweet red fruit under the caramel. Smooth texture on entry; lots of coffee with hints of burnt sugar and black tea leaves – bitter but nicely balanced. Lots of caramel on the late palate but with a nicely balancing acidity. Lots of burnt sugar on the aftertaste and a lingering caramelised orange finish. Great length. 86/100. Tasted 23-Oct-19. Decanted 6½ hours.
