A bottle supplied by the tasting organiser, Tony Carter of Vintage Wine & Port.

Deep red in colour, 50% opaque. A fragrant and mature nose, restrained and needing work to be released from the glass. A bit hard on the palate, a little harsh but with plenty of redcurrant jelly and tannins to balance it. On the late palate the wine has a great fragrance and perfume. Fruity aftertaste with lots of fruit on the slightly too sweet and cloying finish. 85/100. Tasted 23-Oct-19. Decanted 7 hours.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
