Some provenance...

The second of two bottles purchased from the Berry Bros broking list in December 1996.
First bottle was consumed around the time of purchase, and my memory is that it was pretty good.
BBR bottling.

20% opacity, mature red. Lovely rich nose, red fruit. Mature port, red fruit, some dryness, a slight acidic edge in the background.

Ruby red colour, mature but not elderly; 50% opaque. A hint of a metallic tone on the elegant and fragrant nose. Surprisingly young fruit on the palate, showing plenty of redcurrant jelly; generous acidity but with the sweet fruit being given some structure by the powdery tannins. Sweet and youthful fruit, very much alive with a focus and power not found in the la Rosa 1963, and a lovely rose hip finish. Long, fruity and very fine, very focused. More acidic and more sharply focused than the rounded and smooth la Rosa tasted alongside. 92/100.
