Intriguing. Plum and red berries with a medicinal note. Rather good.

Clearly with some age on it, a pale rim. Quite chunky tannins. Restrained plummy palate. Really quite attractive port.

Quinta do Corval from Royal Oporto. A gentle burnt orange colour, 40% opaque. Unpleasant on the nose with some bottle stink making it unattractive; the VA doesn't help either. The palate has some nice texture and shows some fruit with the VA not too obtrusive; the acidity keeps the palate bright. The finish is dry and pleasant. Served blind, this was guessed to be Croft 1985. 85/100. Tasted 17-Dec-19. Decanted 5½ hours.

30% opacity, red, amber rim. Fresh nose, oranges. Medium weight, some VA, lip-licking citrus fruit - oranges.
