I have a couple of bottles of the unfiltered 2011 Croft LBV, and I'm undecided whether to drink it sooner rather than later. I'd love to hear whether those more experienced would suggest to drink it sooner or leave it and see how it matures! Any thoughts?

The Croft LBV's are not intended for ageing in bottle so I don't think it will improve in the way a VP or a "Bottle Matured" LBV would. As you have two there is no harm in sticking one somewhere safe for a few years to compare with one drunk now.

I'm still drinking my half bottles of Croft 2004 LBV (bottled and purchased in 2009). They have softened and become more rounded but lost their overt fruit and brightness. I enjoy the 2004's more now than when I bought them, but also recognize that others might prefer their wines more youthful than I do.

Remind me when we're both next at a tasting and I'll bring a half of the 2004 LBV for you to try. Tasting an example of how these mature might help you to make up your mind.

Thanks gents, that's helpful. I did wonder given the "unfiltered" labeling whether they are truly likely to improve but it sounds like they are best drunk now, maybe with one bottle saved to try in the far future. Alex, I'll happily take you up on that offer if I make a tasting in the near future.
