Y2K Tasting Tuesday 17th March

Post by Christopher »

Dear All
This year not only marks an important anniversary of the legendary 1970 vintage but also the 20th anniversary of the
2000 vintage! Where did all the years go?
I think it’s a great time to carry out an appraisal to see how they are getting on. I suspect I need more of this vintage which if memory serves me right was the first vintage I purchased on release.

Venue : The Ovens in the Boot and Flogger.
Time : 18.00 for a start at 18.30

Attendees
  1. CMAG - Croft
  2. RGO - Adopt GC from AHB please
  3. CMAG Guest - Acquire Noval or adopt Noval from CPR please
  4. AHB - Ramos Pinto (Ca, Ck, EV, GC, Mz, QH, RP)
  5. JDAW - Adopt 2 halves of Warre from TC please
  6. MPM - Adopt Ni from IDJ please
  7. NAC - Vale Dona Maria (T, F, V, TVV, VDM)
  8. IDJ - Graham (Ni, V, G, RCV, Da)
  9. CPR - Taylor (F, Ni, V, T, N, BBR, Pd)
  10. TC - Fonseca (Bu, Ck, F, Fd, Hu, Ni, RP, S, V, W)
  11. HADGE - Adopt Vesuvio from NAC please
  12. ID - Offley
Waitlist
  1. Currently no-one
I suspect limit will be 12 but let’s see if there is any interest
More admin will follow in due course but if interested parties could let me know what they could bring that would help. I fear most 2000 is still sleeping in wooden boxes!
Thanks

Current draft of the placemats.

OK people, I have volunteered to step in and help Christopher organise this tasting since he's a bit swamped at work. As I see it, there's really only two things which are outstanding:
(1) Who is bringing which wine(s)
(2) The food order

WINES TO BRING
CMAG - Croft
RGO - Adopt GC from AHB please
CMAG Guest - Acquire Noval or adopt Noval from CPR please
AHB - Ramos Pinto (Ca, Ck, EV, GC, Mz, QH, RP)
JDAW - Infantado Adopt 2 halves of Warre from TC please
DRT - Sandeman Vau
MPM - Adopt Ni from IDJ please
NAC - Vale Dona Maria (T, F, V, TVV, VDM)
IDJ - Graham (Ni, V, G, RCV, Da)
CPR - Taylor (F, Ni, V, T, N, BBR, Pd)
TC - Fonseca (Bu, Ck, F, Fd, Hu, Ni, RP, S, V, W)
HADGE - Adopt Vesuvio from NAC please
ID - Offley
DRL - Dow (G, V, D)

The above line up gives us the following wines:
Cr, D, F, G, GC, N, Ni, O, RP, SV, T, V, VDM, W
As Tom has pointed out, we are missing Ck from this line-up.

FOOD ORDER
Please let me know no later than 9pm on Sunday 8th March if you would like anything other than your standard food order.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Let me know what you want - I have Ni, RP, V, C, S, Burmester(half bts ), Hutcheson (0.5L bottles), F, Fhd
Two halves of Warre for Julian to adopt from you would be great, thank you.
Would you contribute the Fonseca please?

Christopher - please could you acquire a Noval for your guest's contribution or adopt a bottle of this from CPR
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
