30% opaque. Pale pink with some orange, Spirity nose with some tobacco. Warm orange on the palate. Drying out but with some interest still. Hint of sweet chili on the finish. A slightly flawed bottle; more than merely drinkable; but I cannot see this wine as being anything other than on the downwards slope.

10% opacity, golden yellow. Extracted ripe citrus fruit, vanilla and marzipan on the nose. Syrupy, chewy entry, nuts, margin, heat late palate. I guessed G55.

Mature and elderly in appearance. Copper red colour with a green toned rim, around 20% opaque. Old and a little tired on the nose but lovely on the palate with a fine and soft texture. Some toffee and a nice bitterness on the palate, but very old and a touch dried out although it does still have a wonderful sweet orange oil. There is some heat on the aftertaste and a long, slightly fiery finish. Spirity, with a sweet burnt sugar flavour on the delicious late finish this is a regal Port in very late life. Served blind, this was guessed to be Cockburn 1908. It turned out to be a bottle of Sandeman 1955 (sealed with green wax) whose cork had started to fail in transit. 88/100. Tasted 25-Feb-20. Decanted 12½ hours.
