2004 Ferreira LBV (unfiltered)

From half bottle.

Decanting Sample - rich and fruity on tasting, not so much having sediment as bits of grape in the bottle

+ 3 hrs 70% opaque ,nose rich red fruits, flick of alcohol, congruent light entry, darker red fruits, raspberry, chocolate tannins, fine balancing acidity, very good wine this, prickle of pepper on finish, best of 3-4-5 trio, drinking well but would benefit from another two to five years for perfection perhaps

+ 24 hours darker fruits on nose than the 03, prunes; congruent on palate, much bigger wine, more tannins. More oomph, and deft compared with 05, another couple of years for perfection perhaps, nice chocolate notes on finish

+ 72 hours 75% opaque, darker plum tones on the nose, pines, garrigue, big rich plummy fruit, bigger and richer than the 03, long finish, which is balanced but narrow- doesn't blossom but that is not to ignore the good balance of fruit and acidity with a refreshing kick at end.

Decanted 26/5/2020, tasted 26, 27, 29/5/20
