... I mean who doesn't love really good clean port?
Bottle in impeccable condition, the cleanest 35-year old cork I've ever seen, came out in one with the Durand, no fuss whatsoever.
Wine a 70% opaque purple-red paling to orange at the rim.
Nose like a luxurious bakewell tart with a dash of extra blackcurrant jam thrown in. Literally mouthwatering. Touch of mint, later.
Big rich wash of mint and redcurrant and cranberry on the front palate, then some heat.
Spicy start to the finish, resolving quite quickly to a dry-ish sweetness; and then chocolate and coconut at the very end.
Under-decanted at this point (30 mins) but setting itself up nicely for the week. I'm going to enjoy this.
