Anything but Port, this includes all wines other than fortified wines (which have their own section) even if they call themselves Port. There is a search facility for this part of the forum.

NV Pfeiffer Wines: Grand Rutherglen Muscat

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Average age of the wines in the blend is 18 years. This wine is based on the 1986 vintage wine, the second vintage made by the winery after it was established by Chris Pfeiffer in 1984.

Deep dark brown in colour with a hint of olive green in the tone, 95% opaque. Gentle perfumed nose, floral dark honey. So thick in texture, high glycerol content. The flavours are restrained and relaxed in their pace of development; wonderful perfume on the mid-palate with the sweet and floral honey flavours balanced by high levels of acidity. Coffee aftertaste and sticky lips from the high levels of sugar before the floral perfume and honey returns for the finish. Such a rich and decadent wine. 91/100. Drunk 10-Dec-20.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
