Quinta de la Rosa LBV and Vintage - cancelled

Post by forest26 »

Event cancelled - cannot get enough numbers for May 10

As discussed at the recent online QdlR tasting - LBV and Vintage
Live tasting @ B&F Time TBC (but suggest an early start as there are a lot of wines to taste) - Venue confirmed
Sophia has confirmed

I have the following already set aside - it will be easiest for me to supply (in exchange for a donation to charity). There are a few gaps which I might be able to resolve with Sophia.

Given the large number of bottles - I suggest that the placemats are reserved for older vintages and those years with equivalent LBV's. The more recent vintages could be free-pour on a separate table.

Bottles:
  1. 1988 Vintage
  2. 1990 Vintage
  3. 1991 Vintage
  4. 1992 Vintage
  5. 1994 Vintage
  6. 1995 Vintage
  7. 1996 Vintage
  8. 1997 Vintage
  9. 1999 Vintage
  10. 2003 Vintage
  11. 2004 Vintage
  12. 2009 Vintage
  13. 2011 Waitrose Vintage
  14. 2014 Vintage
  15. 2015 Vintage
  16. 2016 Vintage
  17. 2017 Vintage
  18. 2018 Vintage
  19. 1990 LBV
  20. 1992 LBV
  21. 1994 LBV
  22. 1995 LBV
  23. 1999 LBV
  24. 2011 LBV (Mag)

People:
  1. Sophia; Confirmed
  2. Sophia Guest; Kit (Confirmed)
  3. TC; Reconfirmed
  4. IDJ; Reconfirmed
  5. CPR; Reconfirmed
  6. JDAW; Reconfirmed
  7. NAC Reconfirmed
  8. MPM;
  9. AHB;
  10. ZDR;

Reserves: No Longer available: Current draft of the placemats (after reloading with something resembling ⌘⇧R).

I will need to confirm, but yes please, count me in.
I have a bottle of the 2011 VP that was made for Waitrose I would be happy to contribute. I believe it was the main blend rather than a Wine buyer selection, but Sophia can confirm this.

That judicial review form that kept me in the office until midnight has a lot to answer for now. Please put me on the reserve list (assuming it to be a tasting for 14).

Current draft of the placemats for this de la Rosa event inspired by the TSQ50 circle in at the Taylor vertical of 22 Mar 2013 (PNG, placemats, in list of, organisation thread, review thread).

A2, trimmed at bottom by 81.5mm, so cut paper size 594mm×338.5mm. Circle diameter ≈ 88.8mm ≈ 3.50″. Comment welcomed.

There were three days with a flurry of posts, since when five months of silence.

• Is this likely to happen?
• Tony: do you have all the bottles?
• Did you book the Red Room? [I phoned; no you didn’t; I have; 16:00 on Thu 8th July.]
• Is everybody still planning to attend? (If not, doubtless waitlisters would like to be advanced.)
• Does Sophia still have a guest? Who?

Who can print onto A2 (current draft of the placemats)?

I’m paying attention, and trying to nudge things along. So I’m in — doh.

My question was about Sophia. She has two places reserved, one for her, one for an unnamed guest. Is she two or is she one?

Perhaps this is something we should add to our standard tasting practice — start a separate thread — but is beyond my available tools and skills.

BBC: 21 June: End of England's Covid lockdown could be delayed by one month
The government is considering delaying the lifting of England's remaining Covid restrictions by up to four weeks, sources have told the BBC.

The final stage of lifting lockdown, originally planned to take place no earlier than 21 June, would see all legal limits on social contact removed.

It comes amid growing concern over rapidly increasing cases and the higher transmissibility of the Delta variant.

Downing Street sources emphasised that no final decision has been made yet.

Data is still being examined ahead of a final announcement scheduled for Monday, but a Whitehall source said a number of options were being considered and the four-week delay was currently the main one.

Pushing the date back would allow the vaccination programme to take greater effect, as the rollout moves through to younger age groups.
Mon 21st June + 4 weeks = Mon 19th July.

Financial Times: Johnson set to delay lockdown easing in England by one month
Boris Johnson is set to delay the lifting of remaining coronavirus restrictions in England for a month after his chief medical adviser pressed him to postpone the move following a surge in Covid-19 cases.

The restrictions are meant to be removed on June 21, but Chris Whitty, England’s chief medical officer, has sought a four-week delay. The prime minister is due to make an announcement on Monday.
Presumably all this is the forewarning of the announcement on Mon 14th June.

Most definitely. Or at least it would if I was the organiser, but since I’m not I can’t make the decision. So, I’m other words, I’m the good cop and Tony’s the bad cop.

Interestingly that as far as Boris is concerned, you are free to travel to and from the UK since you are in the Common Travel Area.
