I shall now commit to “70 VP”.

Duck pate - medium rare ordinary steak + peppercorn sauce + beans

Can be taken as my 'default' order for all events.

Tom - you're holding a bottle of Port for me in one of your cellars that you picked up from Brightwells (or was it Strakers?).

Is there any chance you might be able to bring the bottle with you next week for me to take home?

Thank you!

Food order complete. If you don’t check, and it’s wrong, you eat it. So check that your dinner will be what you want it to be.

The placemats believed correct. As ever, please would somebody check.

Apologies for the late notification but I will have to withdraw from this tasting; as I have thankfully remembered in time that it's my wedding anniversary and that it might be a little imprudent to attend a Port tasting on this evening!

I won’t be early.

Happily, there’s about no set-up. Only eight of us, so no pre-pouring. Placemats useful, but even without them the few early arrivals could start — recalling that a quorum shall be the number present. Other than missing a magnum of ’70, you won’t miss me. I.e., you’ll keenly be awaiting my presence.

Neil: pls, can you print?

My bottle has been selected and stood up. I shall transport it to the B&F tomorrow where it will be opened, decanted and can be inspected for clues to contents, age and shipper.

Thank you.

I shall be bringing Alex's olive oil and George's fancy olive oil in an effort to keep dripping the oil to its users.

Hurrah for olive oil!

The 1989 VP was opened and double-decanted at 2100 on 25 April 2022. The cork defeated even a Durand, likely due as much as anything to the slightly old-school style of the neck, coming into many pieces as it was withdrawn. The wine was a dark reddish brown. There was a goodly amount of fairly rustic looking sediment. A cautious sniff suggested there were no problems.

My 1970 VP double-decanted at 2100 last night.
Level was vts/bn. Cork was very slightly raised, but no signs of seepage.
Cork came out pretty much whole and was in fairly good condition.
Lots of proper bark-like sediment.
Small QA test and all was good.

Whoever spotted me dozing off in the pub afterwards, and reminded me to get my train - Thankyou!

A forced march to Liverpool St sobered me up a little and I caught the last train with only a couple of minutes to spare..
