Well, we made it to Oman! Sand, sea and not a bottle of wine in sight. Now, where can I get that liquor license?

Do you want us to ask GW Bush to intervene in a wine for oil exchange?
Derek
PS: glad you got there ok. Keep posting!

That would finally be a good decision by GWB.
We are without internet connection for the moment. I'm in a friends house now, to check e-mail, but I fear that opportunities to post will be scarse the coming days (weeks?). I will however try to arrange an internet connection of our own soon!

Finally got there after all this lead up, and now you say you can't post. Is this some sort of wind-up? I reckon you've just moved to Belgium and are too embarrassed to admit it.

KillerB,
I think you're right!
I checked his IP address and it is 234.BELGIUM.67.101

OK, found a shabby internet cafe, and I'll promise to make friends with the not so friendly Indian at the counter, in order to be able to be around here every now and then.
Once I found the digital camera cable that goes into my computer I will upload some photos of our new home (which is way too big and right next to the sea - offline anyone?), but I'm afraid I have to buy a new one, as there is a good chance that it went into sea freight.
This morning I made a significant discovery. I found a store where they actually sell half decent cheese. All the way to Old Amsterdam and Supermarket Stilton. This afternoon we can pick up our passes that allow us to buy alcohol. Let's see if they sell some port!

Try some of the local cheeses, the Belgians are always telling me that they have so many good ones.

The local cheeses are mainly feta-styled. Nothing wrong with them, and they work great in salads.
I've uploaded some pictures to my Flickr account, just to give you an idea of how we live here. Not bad at all!
The pictures are
here.

A proper internet connection is now secured, and I can now go back to posting without having to worry about going bankrupt.

This may have been covered elsewhere, but where has your cat gone to live?

True, but we had two. The other one (Puck) moved with us. She loves the temperature, and the gekkos.

Good to see she's settling down and having fun with the reptile population. She's a little sweetie but very well balanced. Dries was more fruit forward with a tannic structure.

I am sorry to hear about Dries, although perhaps a move would have been upsetting. Pleased that Puck is enjoying it.
Good luck!
