To record tasting notes and thoughts on fortified wines we might try which do not come from the demarcated region of the Douro Valley

NV Pfeiffer Rutherglen Tawny 10YO

Jen Pfeiffer - Rock It Like A Redhead "The Diamond 10YO Rutherglen Tawny"

PnP - An odd flavour on entry, there are raisin, nuts and caramel notes here but also a thin cherry flavour that's unpleasant and rather chemical. Other reviews on the site I purchased this from suggest it'll improve over time so I'll leave it for a week or two and try again.

+ 1 week - Whatever was off about this has now blown away and there's no chemical note left. I'm getting orange (tangerine but with less sweetness), and a flavour that I cannot place other "Jelly Belly Popcorn", which might sound like an insult but it's not meant to be! I've since been informed I'm finding acetic acid there. Some butterscotch. It's drier than most Tawny ports would be.

An enjoyable wine but not a deep, complex affair. I'm not sure I'll be rushing back for more, but I wouldn't be upset if someone shared a bottle with me (provided they had opened it a week in advance).
