We are back at the Boot & Flogger. Gary has generously put three of us in the green room so we (a) have air conditioning and (b) are nicely spread out.

And it was a splendid evening. So lovely to be back.

I even made my last train out of Waterloo!

Alex's F66 was exceptional. First time I've had this and now understand why JDAW makes such a fuss about it.

All of the Ridge bottles showed well. Lytton Springs was very good but overshadowed by the Monte Bello.

An evening where all the wines were highlights!

The 2013 Monte Bello Chardonnay, a new wine to me, is one of the the two or three best non-French chardonnays I have ever had - a stunning wine.

The 2010 Lytton Springs was on excellent form, open and ready from the get-go. Rather better than the 2011.

The 2012 Monte Bello, although objectively splendid even early, opened and opened through the evening and eventually completely eclipsed the Lytton Springs.

The 1966 Fonseca was truly remarkable, further comments recorded in the tasting notes thread.

Company and venue also splendid; great to be back, great to be seeing familiar faces.
