Given current COVID concerns, do attendees want to go ahead with this or should we push it back until later in the year?

I’m happy to go ahead with it, but appreciate that some might be less enthusiastic, so would prefer to postpone if it means we get full attendance at a later date.

Please respond in the thread or email or PM.
I have put plans in place so I can attend so I'm happy to go ahead but if the majority want to push it back I'm happy to do that.

I'd prefer to stick to the date planned. As Mike says, it's a really tough time for the hospitality trade at the moment so any little we can do to help would be good.

If we do decide to push back the date of the 1997 tasting, perhaps a smaller group could meet up at the planned time and date for a “bring a bottle” dinner.

Having said this, I'm now likely to struggle on the 20th!

A few people have expressed a preference to delay the 1997 tasting, and this combined with the fact that I’m sure someone else will actually drop out, makes it likely that we’ll end up a bit short-handed. As such, I’m going to postpone.

I’ll advise of a new date shortly.

However, as per Alex’s suggestion, I propose that those of us who are still available and are happy to attend use the slot to meet for a “bring a bottle” dinner.

I’ll open a separate thread for this, but obviously existing attendees have priority

I suspect that this might be better suited to the Green Room (assuming it’s available) but I can sort that out later.

Have you any idea what bottle(s) you would like me to contribute to the 1997 tasting, whatever the new date? I am anyhow coming to London on the 20th and would do well to leave the bottles for the later tasting if somebody is prepared to take same. I need anyhow to deliver that old tawny on the day.

Will - could we go for Burmester and Sandeman Vau?
If you're in London anyway, are you coming to the alternative event?

Of course; I shall bring both on the 20th, along with the very old tawny. Alas, I shall miss the alternative event beyond dropping off the bottles at the B&F. I can leave them with the staff or, if anyone is going to knock up early, hang about for a couple of jars. I would simply need to thin out by 1900. With a fair wind from LHR, I could be at the pub by 1730 or certainly 1800.
