Non-English: Deutsch? (And Nederlands?)

TPF has a small number of German speakers. Should there be, on the front page underneath Miscellany Corner, a new section called Non-English, initially featuring just Deutsch?

Of course, such a section would be worthwhile only if it was likely to contribute to an influx of more German speakers. Michael M., Axel P, and SimonSaysDrink: do you know any other port drinkers who would probably use and contribute to a German-language port bulletin board? Or would such a section be little more than a private PM-like area for you three?

Of course, other languages might later include, subject to demand, Português, Español, Français, Italiano, Nederlands, Русский, Svenska, 日本語. But let’s start with German.

Non-English: Nederlands

Actually, in sending invitations to the speakers of Deutsch and Nederlands, I’ve discovered that TPF has more Dutch-speakers than German. Dutchies: please consider yourselves asked the same question, with Nederlands replacing Deutsch.

Ich würde sagen, dass dies nicht nötig ist, denn jeder Port-Trinker sollte auch in der Lage sein, die Rückenetiketten von Portweinflaschen zu lesen und die sind auch selten auf Deutsch.

For all you english-speaking guys out there: NO.

Translation for non-German-readers:

"I would say that that is not necessary because every port drinker should be able to read the rear label of port bottles, and those are also rarely in German."

En ik denk ook niet dat de Nederlanders hier nu echt zitten te springen om een Nederlandstalig hoekje, of wel soms?

I don't think there will be much need for a 'Dutch corner'.
In general, Dutch people are quite comfortable reading and writing the Queen's English.

:) But the thought is much appreciated.

Please do not try to make us Germans a section of anything.

I will join an Arabian course soon. It would be good practice for me if we could have and Arabian corner.

Otherwise, I'm fine with English.

That's Phlegmish and is best appreciated when asking for Gerberas from Govert van der Gow at Amsterdam flower market.

I always thought Phlegmish was the Scouse accent?

Mosterd na de maatijd, maar spuit 11 wil ook wat zeggen: I'm fine with English....

Can I propose to add an Arabic section on fruit cocktails? They have great slimy, ugly looking fruits here, which are probably worth fermenting

Lady Roots! Welcome back.
