FG42. red-orange, 30% opaque. Nose brunt, smoke, and behind, red cherry. Palate acidic, but quite arge and soft. There was an odd flavour, never quite nailed down, that left it feeling strange, despite being big and soft.

Lovely pretty burnt umber colour with yellow rim. Oddly fusty nose. Spirity. Fortified with aguardente? Roasted oranges on the palate. Fading a bit after an hour and a bit simple after two hours.

Opened 09.45, decanted 17.45, tasted 19.45: slightly tired on the nose, a little oxidised but also showing some butterscotch and a lot of rosemary. Smooth, Werther’s Originals butterscotch on entry but cleansed by the clementine acidity and oil on the mid-palate. Medium bodied, quite peppery, drying out a little to become a touch woody. Ground peppercorn finish, bitter clementine oil finish. Lovely length. An evolved, tertiary wine but pleasant drinking. 84/100.

25%, dull tan-amber. Nose has bacon smokiness, pepper and something astringent. Smooth, prominent heat/alcohol, over-ripe oranges.
