A mystery bottle opened late, Diez 1940, it being disputed whether fake. Red-orange, 30% opaque. Palate had some red fruit, very sweet, soft and simple.

Full rich colour, yellowish rim. Piercing nose. Syrupy texture but that may have been because served very cold. Odd. I thought it might be fake, but upon further reflection I think I was wrong and that it is a genuine later labelled late release for the Italian market. It faded quite convincingly.

I believe this to be a genuine bottle. You don't see Diez Hermanos Ports very often, but the bottle, label and cork felt genuine to me.

And it was a very tasty wine. Diez Hermanos 1940 vintage port, decanted 20.00 and tasted 22.00. Mature ochre, 50% opaque. Very limited on the nose, perhaps some slightly dirty candied fruit. Lovely texture, orange crepe suzette, grows wonderfully on the palate. Perhaps a slight taint? Lovely orange aftertaste and a long orange oil finish. 90/100.
