Paling at the rim but otherwise looks pretty vigorous. As so often with Taylor, a bit spirity on the front palate, and some nice red fruit behind that.

Would you like some more Nacional?

I expected the Symington wines to top the bill the bill last night, but in the opposite order to that which emerged.

Taylor was better than I expected, and the Fonseca, which seemed to be fading fifteen years ago, is still exactly the same.

My last encounter with the NN80 was of a very pale wine, and this one seemed a little darker, but for a Nacional to get the wooden spoon without being obviously faulty is a very poor show..

Lightish red in the middle. Fading to the edge. Nice nose but quite subtle. Distant fresh and dried fruits. Perhaps a touch of mint at the end? Gentle fruit in the mouth. Not much complexity.

Dark to mid red. I thought it was a little hot on the nose, but the solid palate of red fruit really and medium length aftertaste won through (if a little drier than I was expecting). P3.

Rich and mature rose red colour, 60% opaque. Soapy redcurrant on the nose, quite similar to the Warre and Offley Ports at this tasting. Smooth entry, a hint of tannin. The Port gives a lovely mouthful of fragrant, floral fruit which fills the mouth nicely. Perfumed, floral finish. This bottle is sweet and fragrant and showing very well. This was my joint top wine of the night. 90/100. Drunk 20-Oct-21. Decanted 7½ hours.
