Agrellos 1870. A bottle acquired by WHW at auction in Portugal and shared over lunch in Taberninha do Manel with GEE, Eric Ifune and David Spriggs.
Decanted at 10.15, returned to the bottle at 11.45 and drunk about 13.00. Dark and thick colour with an olive green rim; slightly cloudy and opaque. A little vinagrinho on the nose, dark toffee. Searing acidity, no thickness to the texture on entry. Grapefruit oil, some honey and a lot of grapefruit acidity. Floral tones to the aftertaste, fragrant with lots of grapefruit acidity. A lovely tawny with considerable age and massive acidity. 92/100. Drunk 03-Oct-21.
