1950 Graham Single Harvest Tawny (bottled 2021)

There is one cask of this vintage left in the cellars of the Graham's lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia. Half the cask has been bottled for release in November 2021. Bottled 2021. This was bottle 187 of 356. A deep chestnut brown colour with a hint of green on the rim; 50% opaque. A huge nose of roasted chestnuts, vinagrinho and a little molasses. There is a nice thickness to the wine when taking the first sip, a sip which shows the rich palate of burnt sugar, burnt orange and bitter-sweet marmalade. A big palate, but very nicely balanced. A little torched sugar (think creme brulee) on the finish, long flavours of roasted hazelnuts. The finish is great; fresh even though its flavours taste like the finish should be slightly sticky. A wonderful wine. 92/100. Tasted 02-Nov-21. Bottle open for 5 hours.
