2019 Barros

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Barros wines are made from grapes sourced from Cima Corgo, Calem from Douro Superior. About 5,000 bottles per brand for the vintage wines. Kopke and Burmester wines are made from grapes from Sao Luiz or Arnozelo.

Final blend, half bottle, pop and pour. Kopke is slightly the darker of the four Sogevinus 2019 Ports. Sharp blackcurrant fruit nose, clean and lively. Wonderful acidity. Clean and sharp blackcurrant, gentle blackcurrant skins. Elegant, slightly chewy, hint of chocolate in the blackcurrant finish. So wonderfully elegant. 90-92/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
