Martínez 1955, bottled by Quellyn Roberts & Co. A gorgeous dark Ruby colour with the colour holding into the rim. Dusty maraschino cherry on the nose, sweet and spiced. Smooth, sweet and glorious fruit on the palate. The fruit grows and explodes, sweet cherry yet with a fabulous balance. Tannins feel like they were once brutal but are now just holding on and the acidity matches the cherry fruit so well. Lots of heat on the aftertaste, but this settles to a dark cherry and dark chocolate finish of several minutes. A big and serious Port, very young and tasting as though it was once like a Mackenzie 1955. Delicious. 93/100. Decanted 2 hours. Drunk 10-May-21.
