Light rim, reddish rather than purple.

Cherry scented.

Slightly medicinal on the palate. Still quite warm on the finish.

Improved over the course of the evening from 'quite pleasant' to 'good port'.

35% opacity, light red-brown. Nose has raisins. Gentle smooth entry, mid weight, very soft tannins, red fruits.

Slightly perculiar nose. Oddly hot. Got a bit better over time.

Decanted at 22.00 the night before the tasting. Mature rose red colour, 50% opaque. Subdued but pleasant rose hip syrup on the nose, perhaps a little harsh but still quite attractive. Redcurrant palate with some bitterness but the fruit is fragrant and pleasant. Lots of acidity and a tiny amount of VA knocks the balance slightly. Glowing, warm aftertaste and a good length of red liquorice. 87/100. 16-Nov-21. Decanted 21 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
