Lightish in colour. 'Coffee grounds' in the wine again (as with the bottle at the 1980 tasting) - never a good sign.

A bit pungent on the nose.

Hmm. Not right.

35% opacity, brick red, slightly cloudy. Red fruits on the nose. Soft, round and fruity, nice balance if a bit one-dimensional. good sweetness.

Currants and red fruit on nose. A little cherry in the mouth with a bit of heat. Quite nice.

Less evolved than the Kopke shown alongside this wine. Little showing on the nose, perhaps a tiny bit of dirty fruit. Soft red jelly on the palate, mature but not yet showing any real secondary flavours. Balanced but fairly simple. Lovely red fruit and redcurrant jelly aftertaste and a long finish. This is lovely drinking with nice acidity and tannins which are almost fully resolved. A tasty but not sophisticated wine. 88/100. 16-Nov-21. Decanted 3 hours.
