Post by jdaw1 »

On Tuesday 16th November 2021 a horizontal of 1994s was held at the Boot & Flogger, initially arranged by JDAW, a responsibility subsequently borne by AHB.

Very dark indeed. Glossy.

A bit of rubber on the nose but not unattractively so.

I rather like the slight coca-cola twang on the palate.

Perhaps getting a little simpler as the evening wore on.

55% opacity, deep dark red. Rich nose, plums, violets. Wonderful in the mouth, full and rich, robust tannins, big fruit - plum & cherry. Big backbone and lovely and chewy. Liked this a lot.

Fruity nose with a bit of cherry. See what GEAG means about rubber. Smooth going in with a lingering chocolate and decent heat.

A lovely dark red colour, 70% opaque. Delicious on the nose, full of spicy red plum. Wonderful fruit on the palate, still quite young compared to the Kopke or Burmester 1994 Vintage Ports. Bright, lively and definitely fruit forward with wonderful complexity on the aftertaste and hints of dark chocolate in the long finish. Very good and my surprise of the evening. 90/100. 16-Nov-21 Decanted 9 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
