The entry level red wine from Ramos Pinto. This wine is a blend which includes 48% Touriga Nacional, 27% Touriga Franca and the remaining 25% a mixture of various varieties including Tinta Amarela and Sousão.

Deep red colour with a purple tone and a narrow rim. Plum and black damsons on the nose, perhaps a little restrained. Floral fruit entry, balanced with gentle tannins on the edges. A long floral aftertaste and a finish which has a touch of black liquorice in it. This is a wine which will reward another 3-5 years in the bottle. 87/100. Open 30 minutes. Tasted 25-Nov-2021.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

I was a big big fan of the Duas Quintas Reserva tinto for a long time. I think they changed the recipe in recent years, which, in my view, made the wine worse. Still quite good, but not the powerhouse it used to be.
