p'n'decant'n'pour

50% opaque, pale rose rim

Nose still very herbaceous at this point. Dusty cherries behind.

Red cherries again at the front of the palate. Brief hint of prune.

Delicious sweet red licorice sustaining at the finish.

More advanced than a bottle I had in 2020, but more immediately attractive.

This remains the most enjoyable 1982 I have had, albeit from a small range.

On this showing, this is not GRAND port, but it is extremely good drinking. And, completely ready, albeit good for a few years yet.

(First half) consumed 17/12/21.

In general agreement; indeed for me this is not only the best of '82, but is one of the better ports of the 80s decade for me.

Second half, consumed after four days in a sealed half in the 'fridge.

Darker, 65% opaque.

Still the herbs on the nose. Cherries that were behind on the nose also darkening but losing the dust.

Absolutely gorgeous and impeccably smooth palate. A lovely wash of ripe red berry tart, with an appealing pastry crumb note. Beautiful balance of fruit and acidity.

A little upmarket bonfire toffee, late.

This has pulled its socks up and is now matching and surpassing my previous bottle.
