This is Selfridge's buyer's own brand, made for them by Quinta do Vale Meão. This bottle was bought in January 2022 for £18.
Sealed with an unbranded, new, long cork. An attractive colour bringing together both some brick tones of maturity and the vibrant red of teenage Port. Good nose, floral bramble fruit. Not unlike a teenage Single Quinta Vintage Port. Subtle layering of aromas. Nice, genteel; not assertive at all. Delicious entry, fruity but with restraint. Lots of acidity and some slight green tannins holding themselves back. Lovely balance; very floral. The aftertaste is amazing. Layer after layer of fruit and flowers. This calms down and turns into a blackberry and dark chocolate molten centred dessert.
A lovely bottle of Port! If I had been given this blind I might have picked it as a SQVP or perhaps a Crusted. It’s a very fine Finest Reserve and represents value for money despite the high price for a reserve ruby Port. 88/100. Pop and pour. Drunk 27-Jan-2022.
