NV Churchill Club Ruby

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled in 2021 as a special blend only for the Churchill Port Club members, a single harvest blend from the 2015 harvest. Sealed with a driven cork.

Dark black-purple colour with a narrow rim. Wonderful nose, sweet black cherry fruit and a delightful floral fragrance. Delicious! Fabulous fruit on entry, concentrated black cherry juice with some slightly green tannins that give a real bite. Concentrated palate with big levels of acidity giving a great balance. Big, persistent liquorice root finish with a slightly jammy black cherry at the end. A fabulous, balanced ruby Port - certainly better than your average Ruby Reserve! Time to tuck the other bottle away in the cellar for a year or two. 89/100. Tasted 05-Jan-22. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
