NV Quinta da Devesa White 20YO (bottled 2022)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2022. Deeper coloured than many of the other wines at this tasting. Limited on the nose, showing only a little fragrance and gentle perfume. Sweet and honeyed on the palate with a slight earthiness to the quince fruit, nicely bitter yet honeyed. Warm aftertaste of honey with bitter burnt sugar. Intense on the palate and aftertaste, leading to a big, long apricot and mango finish. A little overly sweet but a very fine wine. Served blind. 91/100. Drunk 17-May-22.

Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

20% opacity, copper amber. Alonds on the nose. Rich, syrupy and nutty.
