Something of a novelty, an undated Very Fine Old Port, shipped by Cockburn. Although undated, the bottle appears to be from the 1960s and the wine, presumably, would have been at least 20 years old when bottled. The wine is now a burnt ochre colour with no red in the tone, about 40% opaque. A little Russet apple on the nose emerging from a marked cedar wood. Layer after layer of scent. Bruised apple palate, generous acidity and lots of dry cedar. Very nutty, a little green and dry but lots of complexity. A huge aftertaste, green herbs, cedar wood - stunningly complex. Definitely a drier style of Port but benefited enormously from being in the decanter for 3 hours. 87/100.
