Opened last night. Pop and pour was interesting. Very strong coffee flavor with green peppers. Wife said "Is this port?" Not much of a nose. I find that Vesuvio's evolve a lot (for better or worse) over a day or two. Will try some more tonight.

Last night, it showed dried orange/mandarin orange along with some floral notes. The coffee/Kahlua is more secondary. Does not taste "baked" like I was expecting with older Vesuvio vintages. 90 points at best.

That sounds like heat damage. Violets, cherries, plums is the profile I would expect on V92. See several recent notes

I own footlockers of most vintages of Vesuvio before 2010.

As far as "baked" goes, I've found that 1992 is usually beyond that time period in Vesuvio's history. 1989-1991 are where it is most prominent.

I agree that this sounds like an off bottle in some way. 1992 can be almost as good as 1994 and - at least for me - often has a very similar profile.

I don't want to open another bottle of '92 any time soon. Kind of young. Just felt like a change of pace for drinking something in the 90's. It did improve from the first night FWIW.

I don't think I am as fond of Vesuvio as I was. Dow and Warre take the prize for Symington's port for me. I bought a case of '92 Warre not too long ago and those bottles are similarly just ok. Maybe '92 just isn't all that?

Had some more last night. This bottle has more heat to it than I would've thought (noticed from the 1st night). Color is dark and not cloudy at all. No prune, VA, or banana kind of flavors. Just kind of dull and not so interesting.

“Dull and not so interesting” and with no obvious VA sounds like a Port that’s going through a dumb phase.

My experience of the ‘92 Vesuvio is similar to Glenn’s. Generally I find them to be big, bold and fruit forward. Your description is not what I would expect or hope for.

Dumb Phase is what my wife says I have been going through for years.
This port was not big, bold, or fruit forward. Not what I was hoping or expecting either.
