I use a stainless steel coffee filter to very good effect, but it does let through some extremely fine particles in younger Ports. For mature Vintage Port, or any mature Port that throws a crust, my very strong preference is good storage, minimal disturbance and freehand decanting under good light. You might lose part of a glass in what remains in the bottle, but the wine has touched nothing that could possibly taint or affect its flavour.
