The first of two bottles from the same case ("Alan's bottle"). Both bottles came in their original straw sleeves.

A lovely rich golden-toned red, looking delightfully mature, 50% opaque. Spiced fruit on the nose, red peppercorns and raspberry jelly. Smooth on the palate with a nice texture; generous mature fruit with redcurrant jelly, peppercorn and a little cedar wood. Perhaps just starting to show signs of the fruit drying out a little. Some heat shows on the aftertaste but the finish is bold red liquorice and has a great length. 93/100. Tasted 25-Jul-22. Decanted 1½ hours.
