Re: TPF awards ceremony - 7th February 2023
I'm talking to Zak about having 2 (or more) machines running tomorrow night. The tentative plan is that Zak can broadcast via YouTube but we can have people joining remotely on a Teams / Zoom / WhatsApp / Other link with one per person per PC around the table. That should give both a clear view of Zak and The Awards Presentation for people not in the room while also allowing them to contribute almost as easily as if they were sitting at the table.
Please could anyone who has a laptop or tablet who is attending on the evening and who'd be willing to allow it to be used to host a remote attendee, bring it with them?

I'm no AV guru Alex, but I have a suspicion that setup will create problems with audio feedback, having two (+) microphones active.Alex Bridgeman wrote: ↑10:34 Mon 06 Feb 2023 I'm talking to Zak about having 2 (or more) machines running tomorrow night. Let's go for the usual 5;30 for 6;00pm kick-off. Stream to start at 6;15 to properly commence at 6;30pm. 15mins is enough to battle techinical difficulties... right?

Fair point. I always use a headset when I’m on a multiple people call so there’s never any risk of feedback.flash_uk wrote: ↑11:04 Mon 06 Feb 2023I'm no AV guru Alex, but I have a suspicion that setup will create problems with audio feedback, having two (+) microphones active.Alex Bridgeman wrote: ↑10:34 Mon 06 Feb 2023 I'm talking to Zak about having 2 (or more) machines running tomorrow night. But then Zoom etc must have a built in filter otherwise when you use the loudspeaker set on your laptop for a call the built in microphone would pick up the speaker sound and create a feedback loop.
The only way to know, is to try!

Re: TPF awards ceremony - 7th February 2023
I've done similar on several occasions. Multiple machines within the same room to provide multiple views works well, but you can only have a single speaker and microphone (on the same machine) active to avoid feedback or echo issues (depending on separation). Multi-microphones would work if pre-mixed to single machine, as would multi-speaker driven from same machine, but if you're keeping it simple using mic/speaker on each device then enabling from multiple different machines means that the transmission timing causes issues and echo cancellation tends to get in a mess.flash_uk wrote: ↑11:04 Mon 06 Feb 2023I'm no AV guru Alex, but I have a suspicion that setup will create problems with audio feedback, having two (+) microphones active.Alex Bridgeman wrote: ↑10:34 Mon 06 Feb 2023 I'm talking to Zak about having 2 (or more) machines running tomorrow night. Recommend enabling the most central machine's mic (USB webcam mic often superior to laptop built-in btw), and same machine's speaker (option to use a USB or Bluetooth speaker also, for more volume than typical laptop speaker provides). We've used the centrally placed webcam mic & BT speaker combo with multiple other machines as view-only effectively.

I think PhilW has the right idea. Multiple cameras/screens, a single mic/speaker combo.

Err…is not ‘the usual’ 6pm for 6.30pm? Certainly, I might struggle to get there before 6.akzy wrote: ↑14:06 Mon 06 Feb 2023 https://youtube.com/live/7IMamF9i1Rw?feature=share

6:00 pm London is... 10:00 am Seattle. I'll be available to join at that time, but may need to disconnect for about an hour starting at 11:00 am / 7:00 pm for a meeting. If so, I'll re-join after the meeting ends.
I should be able to continue watching the stream (and commenting there as desired) during the meeting. I'll just need my camera for Zoom at that time.

Does anyone have a speaker / mic we could use? I don't have anything along these lines...PhilW wrote: ↑16:54 Mon 06 Feb 2023I've done similar on several occasions. Let's see how this goes tomorrow. The YouTube Live stream (famous last words) should go smoothly. The two way feedback may be trickier.
For start time, if you're in place for 6:30 Ian, we should all be pretty happy.

This was opened at 18.30 yesterday and decanted at 10.30 today. It will be returned to the original bottle about 12.30, before I make my way to the station to head in to London.Alex Bridgeman wrote: ↑18:49 Mon 30 Jan 2023 I have found the bottle I wanted to bring. I shall be bringing Fonseca 1963.

If you are not pre-pouring generally, please nevertheless pour some for me as I won't be there until about 1845 (train arrives Marylebone 1820 all being well).

G60 double-decanted & Vac-u-Vined at 1930 last night.
Level was mid-shoulder with some signs of seepage. Cork pretty good and out in almost one piece.
Lots of heavy sediment. Very small QA sample all good.

I have finished my errands in London and have found a quiet spot to work with a glass of Fonseca 2000 on hand. I'll aim to be at the Boot & Flogger 17.00-17.30 but if needed earlier (or if anyone is free for a drink earlier), just let me know.

SW70 decanted at 9am this morning. Will be there for 5:30.

Cr70 retrieved and found to be a leaker, just below top shoulder fill. Not convinced by nose and quick QC sample. W70 decanted, as a bonus.
Should get there for 1815.

The Burmester 1960 is, sadly, shot. Very oxidised. Gary tells me that the cork fell in when he tried to decant it earlier today.
