  • 2 x Reidel Vinum Port Glasses from the in-laws 88)
  • A pocket version of Braodbent's book, also from the in-laws but stollen from me by Jo a week ago when I got home from London after buying it for myself in BBR :D
  • A bottle of Taylor's Select Reserve from my son, Ross 88)
  • A book "50 Great Curries of India" from Jo's son, Lewis 88)
  • Money from my Mum, Dad, Sister and Bro-in-law which has miraculously turned into 3 bottles of Dow 1980 88)
I think they all know me well

Happy birthday. I'm delighted to see from your tasting note that you have managed to guarantee yourself another 12 months of life.

That's also a great selection of birthday presents. Did your present from Lewis also include an introduction to the Ports of Goa and curries to cook to go with them?

Yes, no life insurance payments required for me this year

Here are a selection of the curries listed in the book Lewis gave me:
  • Chicken Porto Masala
  • Pop-a-port-a-doms and stilton dip
  • Cockburn Special Reserve Bhuna

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I will be drinking the last of my bottle of Vargellas 65 this evening and I suppose that will be that for another year.

Belated happy birthday. I've been on wicked shifts over the weekend.

Not so sure you should have had the last Vargellas! Really you should have waited until your 60th which is just around the corner. :P

What happens on the birthday four years from now? Will I have to change my avatar again?

I didn't know you had changed your Avatar this time. Did I miss something?

Fear not, I have 3 bottles of Vargellas 1965, 3 bottles of Fonseca Guimaraens 1965, 12 bottles of Graham Malvedos 1965 and 1 bottle of Dow Bomfim 1965 - so I have 19 more birthdays planned for and hopefully more bottles can be acquired in intervening years. Or, perhaps I should re-bottle some Malvedos into 375ml bottles to extend my planned birthdays by a few more years.

Yes. I remember now. Thankfully a "who killed Derek?" version will not be required for some time.
