1910 Andresen Colheita (bottled 2022)

A cask sample drawn about 6 hours prior to tasting. Rich and deep nose, vinagrinho, polish, orange oil.

Thick texture, powerful acidity so intense to be eye watering. Dry orange, marigold perfume, and tannins holding the inside of the mouth.

And then the aftertaste explodes. The intensity doesn’t fade, the acidity is generous. The flavours range from coffee to orange to molasses to cornflowers.

Only a handful of wines can bring a tear to the eye. This is one of them.  99/100. Tasted 14-Oct-22.

That sounds truly splendid. A testament to the best practice being to drink colheitas, like TWAIOAs, soon after bottling?

It was a truly amazing wine. One I think I would be happy to drink fresh from the cask or from a bottle filled a couple of decades ago.
