1955 Croft

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A bottle purchased at Dreweatts in 2018. The lot description included the fact the bottles had been stored in the family cellar since being bottled. Bottled in the UK by an unknown merchant.

Slightly cloudy, a fading brick. Slightly acrid nose, a touch of rubber. Light, simple and a little acidic with heat showing on the late palate. Interesting redcurrant finish, good length. Not showing the way a good bottle should.  85/100. Drunk 15-Oct-22. Decanted 10½ hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
