2006 Burmester Colheita (bottled 2022)

Bottled in 2022.
Beautiful deep amber colour with perhaps the slightest touch of red left. Quite consistent to the edge where it fades out.
Nose is quite nice. Some orange. A little caramel.
In the mouth, I get little primary fruit, followed by a huge hit of golden syrup, accompanied by an unctious mouthfeel. There is a little acidity, too. Once that all fades there is a pleasingly long aftertaste. But, unfortunately, I also get a bit of spirit and a bit of astringentcy which I don't like, throughout. Also, it feels rather simple. Would like some more complexity.
I hope it is not unfair to say that I found this merely "ok" and not as good as I'd hope a 16-year-old colheita could be.
