Bottled by Page & Sandeman with their logo embossed on the original metal capsule (the bottle had been rewaxed when I collected it from the auction house). Low shoulder but good colour. The cork was branded but difficult to read. The consensus view is the branding indicated the wine was Croft and from a vintage of 19X2. From the appearance of the bottle I believe this to have been 1912.

Rich redcurrant and fragrant nose, a nose suggesting a wine full of life. A fabulous palate of mature fruit, sweet cherry and tannins still showing on the core. An old and fully mature wine but one still drinking wonderfully well. 92/100. Consumed 15-Dec-22. Decanted 1½ hours.
