2004 Offley Colheita (bottled 2021)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Wines from the harvest are sorted into their (ruby) use - into quality appropriate for Vintage, LBV, Reserve or Ruby. Once this selection is done, some of the wines may be put aside to age in wood and be used as colheita (selected from the Vintage wines) or tawny (from Vintage and / or LBV). This wine was selected early and aged in pipas until being bottled in mid 2021. Very dark colour. Muted nose (rather cold); big on the palate, powerful and intense. Generous dried fruit, red and vine, perfect level of acidity. Big and so generous! Long finish. Just fabulous!!  95/100. Tasted 17-Jan-23. Open 1 hour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
