1854 Ferreira

Tasted at Quinta das Napoles with Dirk Niepoort and a number of other guests. The label stated "bottled 1952, decanted 1973".

Brick red, 60%. Waxy colheita nose; red fruit, rosemary overtone. Deep bitter flavours and very intense. Hints of tannins on the palate. Bitter and slightly sticky aftertaste and finish. Big and bitter, served blind I guessed this to be Ni77g because of the power and depth of the palate. 90/100. Tasted 30-Sep-20. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
