1991 Vesuvio

Post by winesecretary »

Pop'n'decant'n'pour after an absolutely miserable day that made me want to become an atheistic anchorite.

Pristine bottle, wax seal over foil.

Contents no more than 70% opaque.

Unsurprising hint of heat on nose given minimal decant, but it's mainly maraschino cherry there.

When given a good slurping that's pretty congruent on the maraschino cherry through to the finish with just a hint of pontefract cake, late. Second glass more iodine and smoke and coffee on the very end of the finish.

This is very nice, but not very fine, port.

On this analysis fully ready, to the extent I will actively seek to drink up other bottles of this I have.

I've had mags of this in the past 6 months. It is fully mature, if not a tad past. Still enjoyable but don't hold on to them much longer.
