1966 Warre

Post by Alex M »

Purchased at Cheffins in 2021. Identified by capsule only. Fill level upper shoulder. Started leaking post house move therefore a worthy candidate for Hawksmoor Monday night £5 corkage.

Decanted for 3 hours as I was conscious of the effect of the leak. I didn't need to be concerned. A dark wine with not much on the nose initially. Very harsh heat.

After a further hour in the decanter this opened up and the heat 'dissipated'. A smooth wine with lots of prunes and berries. Once the heat left it almost felt quite cool, hints of aloe vera.

Glad to have tried it again. Not quite as good a specimen as last tasted with GEAG in March 2022.

Would happily have more.
