Mon 24th April - Bring a Bottle

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

This is likely to be the first day I can manage a tasting after the BFT. Is anyone up for a get-together?

Theme: bring a bottle of Port you are happy to share with other Port lovers (which seems to have become a tasting of ’63s and ’70s).

Venue: the Ovens, at the Boot & Flogger.

Time: the usual(ish) 18.00 for 18.30.

Attendees:
  1. AHB — T63
  2. JDAW — G70 and Fortnum & Mason 2011
  3. MPM — GC70
  4. NAC — N70
  5. AJM — Ck70
  6. WPS — Mz63
  7. HTWH (definitely) - unknown, but probably a repeat of a bottle already being brought
  8. BRP (definitely) — GM92
  9. AH — HTWH bringing a D70
  10. BH — AHB bringing G63
  11. MC — F77
Non-Attendees
  1. IDJ — T70
  2. ZDR — W70 (adopted from HTWH)
Current draft of the food order.

Current draft of the placemats.

On 24 April 1993, so thirty years before this one, I held a tasting (review) at which were served T63, G63, T70, G70, N70, GC70. Could this be an inspiration for the theme?

I have excellent G70 within reach, which could happily be my second bottle.

I was planning to bring a 1963 (I’m opening lots this year) and could bring either (or both) Taylor or Graham.

Assuming I can make it - which I think is likely - then will bring Noval 1970.

We need a team vote. Should Alex bring:
  1. Taylor?
  2. Graham?
  3. Both?
(How is this a question?)

Also, we won’t fit in the 1931 room.

The room can hold 12, but if we get to 10 I will ask if there is anywhere else available.

Alex will be busy with The BFT, so I’ll ask for food orders from the menu.

For some but not all people I have guessed — well, copy-pasted. Please inspect the current draft of the food order, and approve or amend or instruct, as appropriate.

Zak, Wolfgang, Harry, Ben: please reveal which bottle you’ll be bringing.

Thank you for organising the food order - you are correct that I would have forgotten.

Please may I have skinny fries?
