1978 Warre Cavadinha

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

WC78, decanted 1 day. A gentle brick red, around 40% opaque. Gentle strawberry preserve on the nose with a touch of mint. Attractive if a little restrained. Wonderfully balanced on the palate, gentle and elegant with the strawberry preserve and honey dominating the early palate. Honey and lime on the mid-palate. The elegance of the wine really shows on the aftertaste and dried red fruit finish with plenty of honey. Delicious and very mature. 91/100.

Tasted at the Warre Cavadinha Vertical on 28th March 2023.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

30% opacity, mature clear red, orange rim. Red fruits on the nose. Soft and delicate, some red fruit - strawberry, lovely sweetness. Nicely balanced.
