1979 Warre Cavadinha

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

WC79, decanted 1 day. Mature brick red, around 50% opaque. Nicely developed nose, mint and star fruit. Light on the palate, a little lacking in fruit and with pronounced acidity making the wine quite sharp. The palate settles to allow some attractive raspberry to show. A lovely raspberry jam finish, with just a little aniseed to provide some pleasant heat. 88/100.

Tasted at the Warre Cavadinha Vertical on 28th March 2023.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

WC79. Red-red-pink, 40% opaque. Bright cherry, soft, and long, with bright maraschino cherry. Liked.

35% opacity, mature red. Concenrated red fruit. Huge burst of lovely strawberry fruit with perfect sweetness. Delicate but nicely balanced.
